Hello, guys! How are you? Thanks for giving us an opportunity to make an interview with you.
Please, introduce your band to our readers. The band had a few changes in line-up. Did it affect the band?
2 Wolves: We are a metal band from South-Carelia, Finland. The line-up has changed radically but the band is now stronger than ever because now we all have the same goal and the goal is to have fun with music… Nobody pressures anybody and everything works like a dream. Five assholes fit together.
How did you meet each other?
2 Wolves: Ilkka, Janne and Pentti have met each other by other projects. Niko and Jere are brothers.
How the band ended up in the current lineup?
2 Wolves: It is a mystery to us too… One day we were drinking beer, next day we became a band.
Do you have some other bands/ projects?
2 Wolves: Yes. Ilkka is the singer in Solamnia and Lihamsterit. Pentti plays the guitar in Solamnia and Lihamsterit and Janne is the bass player in Solamnia, Lihamsterit and Of Spite.
Who is in charge for music and lyrics?
2 Wolves: In this line-up Niko and Janne write songs and Ilkka does most of the lyrics.
Your inspiration is from Finnish melancholy and nature, and it seems like a perfect combo. What inspires you more to make music together, like a team?
2 Wolves: Beer! Inspiration for lyrics come from hangover. We would like to say something like ”The inspiration comes from dark forests and the thousand lakes of Finland” but that would be a lie.
For example the album 'Men of honor' is all about a hangover.
I won't ask who are your influences , I will ask you – what are you listening to lately?
2 Wolves: Lots of different music… we do not like each other's music taste.
But ... Idols. Does anyone from the band have some idol(s), or someone who affect the path to become a musician?
Niko: So many great bands and musicians, can’t name one…
Janne: Matti Esko! When I heard the first time in the 80’s his song called Rekkamies, I was sold. It is a weird Finnish country song about truck driver. Finnish country song… It's nearly as stupid sounding idea as a beach holiday in the North Pole.
Pentti: G’n’R… especially Slash
Jere: Richie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio
I love this question so much cuz it's fun to read what different people say.
So, what kind of music you don't like to listen at all ? ☺
Janne: EDM! I don't fucking get it. Perhaps because I do not dance.
Niko: Our own songs!
Pentti: Teknoryskettä
Favorite female metal band?
Janne: Is the Spice Girls metal band? No? Ok… Then I think it is the Nervosa! I get an erection every time I hear Fernanda Lira singing.
Pentti: Arch Enemy… Because of Angela
Did you play somewhere else, except in Finland?
2 Wolves: No. Balkan tour is our first time abroad.
Do you have in mind to play some cover songs (live or at studio)?
2 Wolves: Yes. The Balkan tour set list contains two cover songs.
Do you have some expectations from the upcoming Balkan tour?
2 Wolves: Nothing special… We are going to have some kickass time and we hope that everybody who comes to see our shows join in the fun that we have on stage.
We heard that Finnish audience is very tranquil on gigs. Almost without moshpit, headbang and etc. Is it true? ☺
2 Wolves: Yes! That is true, but not in our gigs… our music is too soft for moshpit. Anthrax's frontman Scott Ian said in an interview that the Finnish metal heads are just crazy as the South American metalheads.
What was the most bizarre/weirdest thing that happened while you were on stage?
2 Wolves: Once there was an old guy in the audience who stripped for us… He did some pole dancing and waved his cock to us.
If you could tour with any band, which band would it be?
Janne: Definitely with the Spice Girls!
Niko: Type O Negative
Pentti: Sentenced
Jere: Black Sabbath
Do you have some hobbies, except music? What are you doing in everyday life?
Janne: Motorcycles… Is masturbating a hobby?
Niko: Make music… Except music? Hmmm, I drink beer, hang out with my family and our cat.
Pentti: Beer! Kippis!
Jere: Hunting and Ice Hockey
Ilkka: Ktllää2
Are you familiar with croatian metal scene? Is there any croatian metal band you like?
Janne: Yes… there is this one guy… what was his name? Kris? 😉
He plays in a death/black metal band called Defiant. I think that Croatian metal is similar to Finnish metal. Croatians are proud of their country and roots just like the Finns are of their own. Both countries have similar histories and have had to fight for their freedom against the invaders, and perhaps it appears in the music.
*Thanks, cheers!
